​​​​​​​How does Consolidation work Starts​

  1. In order to make consolidation operation more transparent and comprehensive, new Consolidation of Holdings Rules, 1998 have been framed in suppression of the Punjab Consolidation of Holdings Rules, 1960, in which the procedure for obtaining consent of the landowners at various stages of consolidation has been laid down/prescribed
  2. The consolidation operation is initiated with the consent of 51% majority of the landowners in the revenue estate, owning an area of not less than 51% of the total agricultural land in the revenue estate
  3. According to Rule 10 of the Consolidation of Holdings Rules, 1998 the Board of Revenue may allow the second consolidation of an estate already consolidated under the Consolidation of Holdings Ordinance 1960 if 15 years have elapsed after the date of consignment of its Misal Haqiat as verified by the Collector of Sub-Division

WHO MAY MOVE FOR CONSOLIDATION OF HOLDINGS AND MINIMUM AREA REQUIRED FOR MAKING AN APPLICATION

  1. The Board of Revenue or any other officer authorized by it in this behalf may move the Consolidation Officer for the consolidation of holdings in an estate or a sub division of an estate
  2. Any two or more land owners in an estate or a sub division holding together not less than the minimum area of land prescribed in this behalf may make an application in writing to the Consolidation Officer for the consolidation of their holdings
  3. No application for consolidation of holdings under sub-Section (2) of section (3) of the Consolidation of Holdings Ordinance, 1960 shall be considered unless the land-owners making the application hold together not less than two squares or two rectangles or fifty acres of cultivable land, whichever is more

WHEN AN APPLICATION FOR CONSOLIDATION OF HOLDINGS SHALL BE DEEMED TO BE ON BEHALF OF ALL THE LAND-OWNERS

  1. Where an application for consolidation of holdings is made by or on behalf of all the land-owners of an estate or a sub division and the scheme of consolidation of holdings is confirmed, such scheme shall be binding on all the land-owners of the estate or the sub division and on every person having a right or interest or who may subsequently become entitled to such right or interest in the area included in the scheme
  2. The motion of the application, as the case may be, shall be deemed to be an application on behalf of all the land-owners in the estate or sub division
    if :-
    Not less than fifty one percent of the land-owners in an estate or a sub division holding not less than fifty one percent of the cultivable area in the estate or the sub division make an application for consolidation of their holdings
